Today the Tokyo Complaints Choir came together for the second time. Afters Tomoko’s effective warm-up exercises Sunchuke introduced the song to the Choir. This is always an exciting moment. This time it was not very easy to read the choirs reaction. People were at least surprised by the song. Some were perhaps worried that only 20 complaints were in the song, but the choir members could be assured, that many more complaints will fit into the song, when the lyrics are added completely to the song. The choir was very effective to learn the song, even the 4 part harmony sequence went well after only 30 minutes of practice.
On Friday October 23 the members of the Tokio Complaints Choir met for the first time. Around 90 people showed up – the room full of excitement. After a few technical difficulties with the audio/video equipment (The battery of the laptop showing samples of earlier choirs went flat just in the moment when the audio started to work – Japan seems to be troubled by the same issues than any other country) the choir made some warm-up exercises directed by Musician Shunsuke Okuchi to get into the right mood for the following complaints workshop. We proudly can announce that the composer and musical leader of the Tokyo Complaints Choir is renowned artist Shunsuke Okuchi. He is member of the musicians collective chanchiki tornade. He as well composed the original score for the film Yellow Kid. The singing instructor and choir conductor will be Tomoko Saido.
Please send your complaints – anything between 1 and 100 (or more) – together with your contact details to firstname.lastname@example.org. There will be altogether 5 rehearsals and two days with performances. The first rehearsal is on Friday October 23 at Mori Art Museum.
